Mayor Huang Wei-che thanks the Youth Committee for partnering with the government to create a livable city

Tainan City Government held the 3rd meeting of the 3rd Youth Affairs Committee on March 15, inviting committee members and representatives from various city government departments. Mayor Huang, Wei-che personally attended the meeting and expressed his appreciation for the committee members' involvement in public affairs.

He emphasized the ongoing progress of social housing and invited young people to relocate to Tainan, highlighting that youth are the city's valuable assets. He noted that the committee's advice is crucial for the sustainable development of the city, such as planning various events in alignment with local characteristics and sustainable development, as well as creating connections between youth returning home and the community.

Mayor Huang stated that the social housing planned during his tenure will be completed by the end of 2024, and other social housing projects have already commenced construction. He hopes to allocate a higher proportion in the future to prioritize housing for young people who have just entered society. He also mentioned the significant decline in Tainan's youth unemployment rate and promised continuous efforts to enhance employment support for young people. He expressed gratitude for the valuable advice from the committee members, considering them indispensable partners in promoting the city's development.

Deputy Mayor Chao Ching-hui stated that the city government will continue to focus on youth issues and provide support and opportunities for them to fully realize their potential and dreams. The city government is also paying special attention to housing issues for young people, implementing the "Tainan City Housing Justice Trilogy" with practical and steady strategies, including rent subsidies, rent management, and social housing. These strategies aim to effectively improve the housing situation for young people and make Tainan a livable city. The meeting also included a presentation by the Urban Development Bureau on the progress of social housing projects, hoping to explore social housing plans with the committee members and jointly create a suitable living environment for young people.

Chen Shu-zi, the chair of the Research and Evaluation Committee, stated that the committee actively promotes the 3rd Youth Affairs Committee by organizing 42 sessions of youth exchanges, meetings, policy consultations, and youth questioning sessions. The committee serves as a platform for dialogue between the city government and youth, facilitating discussions on policies and incorporating suggestions from young people in various fields into city planning and execution. The committee integrates youth resources as a reference for policy planning and implementation, an important task for the city government. During the meeting, the committee members expressed great interest in Tainan's social housing plans and offered many suggestions. Mayor Huang Wei-che noted that the discussions and suggestions would be incorporated into the city's social housing policy planning to jointly create a livable city with young people.
