The Achievement Exhibition of the government-held “Tainan Ideas Challenge” Competition was organized at the Tainan Culture and Creative Park on November 19th. Acting Mayor Li Men-yen not only welcomed the candidates from Chiayi, Tainan and Kaohsiung who proposed innovative ideas to solve city problems by utilizing the bluetooth base stations in Tainan, but also expected a diverse, open and technological city could be built.
Acting Mayor Li stated that the “Tainan Ideas Challenge” has a deep meaning as the entire world is currently facing new technology impacts. Those new technologies not only bring us challenges but also opportunities. There are many new changes that municipal administration is facing currently. For example, from the disaster prevention aspect, almost all of us can use the mobile APP to monitor the water regime to reduce the impact of disasters. Therefore, the new technology has been implemented in the city management in many ways.
Acting Mayor Li also stated that Beacon installation is an important step for becoming an intelligent city. Through this competition, Tainan city government can gather public’s intelligence by integrate Beacon bluetooth station and open data platform to create multiple intelligence city applications. The massive Beacon hotspots can provide data from transportation and tourism which could even open for public or companies to develop new services in order to create a better life for all the citizens.
