Smart City Tainan is Widely Praised

The MWC Shanghai was held from June 29th to July 1st and ended very smoothly. Chairperson of Research, Development and Evaluation Commission, Tainan City Government, Ching-Hui Chao, the only local government official invited to the conference, presented on the topic of “Driving Sustainable Smart Cities”. Chairperson Chao shared the experience of using mobile company’s advantage to execute local government policies. Chairperson Chao further showed the audiences on how Tainan transformed from cultural capital to a smart city. Audiences were very impressed with the presentation and praised Tainan City’s transformation. During the three day exhibition, there are around 53,000 visitors. Taiwan’s exhibition stand attracted 2,000 visitors out of the 550 stands. This might be able to create some international business opportunity.

During the seminar of “Driving Sustainable Smart Cities” on June 29th, Chairperson Chao presented first, and followed up by Far Eastone’s Vice General Manager Li Hao-Zen. The presentation focused on Tainan City’s position as Taiwan’s Cultural Capital and how Far Eastone helped with open data, cloud platform, and big data analysis. The presentation put specific focus on smart flood prevention, smart traffic control, smart tourism and how Industrial Development Bureau, Ministry of Economic Affairs from the federal government supported Tainan City’s plan.
