3rd Anniversary of Tainan Digital Creative Park

Since its establishment in Dec. 2013, the Tainan Digital Creative Park (TDCP)Pun Place, has been promoting digital fabrication and local culture-based creativity for three years. On Dec. 24th, Mayor Lai attended the press conference on results of TDCP, where start-ups, local maker societies, and institutions cooperate with each other, to encourage youngsters to fulfil their dream fearlessly.

Mayor Lai mentioned that he had acknowledged how tough a start-up would be through when the TDCP was just established, yet this impression was even strengthened after the visit to Israel. Since pre-school education, the Israeli have encouraged people to launch a business when they are young, and failure is tolerable or even regarded part of startup. As a result, traditional industries would be gradually fading, so Taiwan should begin to recruit people with various talents to start businesses with international standards.

Chao Ching-hui, Chairperson of the REDC, Tainan City Government, indicated that the TDCP has achieved many objectives, for example, there are 56 groups of people stationed in TDCP, over 500 forums or seminars had been held, and more than 8,000 people had participated in learning events. “Mistakes are tolerable and beneficial, even if 99% of trials go to failures, the others who survive would enter international market successfully”, Chairperson Chao added.

In 2016, the TDCP hosted “FabLearn”, a seminar teaching computer programming authorized by Stanford University, to make programming a part of our education. It is expected that our next generation can go further through learning how to program.
