John G. Jung, the Chairman of Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) led a delegation to visit Mayor Lai on Feb. 6th, and shared his experience of promoting smart city with directors of bureaus of Tainan City Government. Mayor Lai gave the delegation a warm welcome and he stated that this visit represents the determination and results of smart city promotion in Tainan have been confirmed abroad.
Mayor Lai further indicated the city government cooperated with the central government and private sectors to make Tainan a smart city. For example, striving for the support from central government to found southern branch of Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and Academia Sinica, and building public private partnership with 18 universities located in Tainan and technology companies all aim to make Tainan smarter to bring citizens more convenient lives. The application covers common issues of citizen and the city including transportation, disaster prevention, cloud, e-learning, health management, and travel guide.
During the meeting, Wang Shih-Sih, Director-general of Bureau of Tourism and Travel, made a brief on strategies and effects of smart city promotion. Afterwards, both sides exchanged the experience in smart technology application covering environmental protection, public transportation, disaster prevention, and education.
