Tainan City Being Recognized as Smart21

ICF’s COO, Matt Owen, wrote to Mayor Lai and congratulated Tainan on being recognized as ICF’s 2017 Smart21 (the Top 21 Smart City Award), and further encouraged Tainan City to move toward Top 7. Owen offered congratulations to Tainan city for being one of the 2017 Smart21 communities in the letter. He indicated that in the modern society of broadband economy, being named the Smart21 was not only a token of honor but also a convincing step of advancing towards an intelligent community.

Owen mentioned that the making of the Top7 nomination form was in its final stage, and would be sent to Tainan City enclosing three ICF-made materials (Smart21 news release, Smart21 film release and Tainan City’s Smart21 LOGO) to promote Tainan to the world as a Smart21 city. Afterwards, Tainan will soon have to prepare for the nomination of 2017 Top7.

The Research, Development, and Evaluation Commission (RDEC) of Tainan City government stated that “the core spirit of Tainan’s smart city project is not in the mere pursuit of technology development but the endeavor to serve citizens.” The RDEC would also like to thank all the staff for their efforts in forging Tainan into a Smart City. However, becoming a member of Top7 will require even more efforts and integration. Hence, the REDC expects all fellow colleagues to continue their support and help the city earn world spotlight once again by transforming Tainan into “an ancient city with new antique culture.” With the combination of technology and culture, Tainan City will provide the next generation with a rich foundation in the realm of global economic development and Smart City competition.
