The Tainan City Government has convened the inaugural meeting of the 4th Youth Committee. Mayor Huang Wei-che personally attended the event to present appointment letters to the newly appointed committee members and delivered an encouraging speech. He urged the new members to actively participate in the city’s development over the next two years by proposing innovative policy suggestions and leveraging their strengths to support government operations, allowing youth to play a more proactive role in urban governance.
The 4th Youth Committee is composed of 26 members, including 10 experts and scholars and 16 youth representatives. These members come from diverse fields such as law, technology, culture, and mental health, and include students, social entrepreneurs, NGO members, and community practitioners. The committee also includes second-generation new residents and Indigenous youth, reflecting a spirit of diversity, inclusion, and intergenerational collaboration.
Ahead of the official meeting, the Research, Development and Evaluation Commission (RDEC) organized a consensus-building session focusing on five key areas: employment, entrepreneurship, family building, public participation, and youth empowerment. The session featured presentations by the Economic Development Bureau and the Agriculture Bureau, who shared resources and experiences related to youth development and local revitalization—demonstrating the city’s strong commitment to cross-departmental collaboration in advancing youth engagement.
RDEC Chairperson Meng Chih-cheng noted that this term, the number of expert seats was expanded to integrate greater professional expertise and creativity. The goal is to transform the voices of youth into actionable policies and inject forward-looking momentum into municipal governance.
Through the newly established 4th Youth Committee, the Tainan City Government aims to unite the strength of young people to co-create a more friendly and livable city.
