To support youth in preparing for their future careers and enhancing their employability, Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che has actively promoted a public sector part-time job program since 2024. The initiative aims to help students gain early workplace experience and improve their competitiveness in the job market. For the April–June 2025 term, nearly 50 students applied for 21 available positions. Today (29th), the Research, Development and Evaluation Commission (RDEC) held a joint interview session at the Labor Recreational Center, giving students an opportunity to plan ahead for their careers and demonstrate their proactive spirit.
According to the RDEC, the part-time job program was first launched in 2024 as a comprehensive initiative and received enthusiastic feedback from students. It encourages young people to gain a deeper understanding of municipal operations through part-time job, develop a sense of civic participation, and acquire practical experience to enhance their future employment prospects. In this round, 11 municipal departments offered part-time job positions, including the Economic Development Bureau, Finance and Local Tax Bureau, Bureau of Education, Bureau of Sports, Tourism and Travel Bureau, Environmental Protection Bureau, Agriculture Bureau, Water Resources Bureau, Bureau of Civil Affairs, and the RDEC itself. The roles span a variety of fields, such as clerical work, archive management, social media operations, tourism services, and event planning.
The RDEC further explained that due to the competitive nature of the joint interview, a “Position Matching Preference Survey” was introduced. Students who are not selected for their preferred positions need not worry, as a second-round recommendation and matching mechanism will be activated to offer additional part-time job opportunities. The list of selected candidates is expected to be announced within a week on the RDEC official website, and the respective departments will contact the selected candidates for follow-up procedures.
This interview process not only assessed the job-seeking skills of students but also underscored the Tainan City Government’s commitment to nurturing workplace talent. The goal is for part-time workers to experience personal growth during their tenure while contributing fresh ideas and energy to city governance.
Mayor Huang emphasized that youth are a key driving force behind the city’s future. Through this program, the city government aims to provide valuable work experience and foster innovative thinking in public affairs, injecting youthful vitality into municipal development. Moving forward, the city will continue to strengthen career development mechanisms for young people and create more high-quality learning and practical opportunities.
