With the efforts of the city government and five Tainan division legislators, the Central Government successively approved six budgetary bills achieving a total of over NT$10 billion for major infrastructure constructions. Through road network connections, green energy science city programme, and economic and cultural promotion, Tainan is now approaching its visions.
The first project was the last section for Provincial highway No.61 within Tainan, Zengwen River Bridge, which was granted by the Executive Yuan with NT$4 billion and scheduled to be completed 6 years from now on. The second one was to invest NT$3.6 billion approved by the Central Government in road network construction in response to the population growth in Annan and Yongkang District and the development of Asian-Pacific Baseball Training Centre and Yongkang Creative Industry Park.
In addition, the Executive Yuan approved the budget at an expenditure of NT$2 billion for “the Comprehensive Planning Report of Tainan Exhibition Centre”, located in HSR Tainan station special district; its position would be “Green & Smart Expo”, focusing on green energy exhibitions and conferences.
Since administrative restructuring, Tainan began to build a museum of fine arts of its own, the construction covered two sites near the Confucius Temple Cultural Zone, and the Central Government granted NT$0.8 billion for this project.
Moreover, the launch of the Southern Branch of Academia Sinica and Shalun Green Energy Science City represented the south-extended research power, balanced regional development, and led Tainan industries to a new era via the cooperation of local and central government.
