This is the 4th year of Tainan City Freedom of Speech Day. Inspired by how the younger generation is slowly become the most important part of the society, and to remember Mr. Jheng Nan-rong; this year’s Freedom of Speech Day used “Pride of Younger Generation” as the theme. From April 6th, there will be a series of activity and hopes through the power of art, we can pass down the idea of Freedom of Speech.
Mayor Lai pointed out in the press conference which was held on April 1st that Tainan is Taiwan’s first city and has an important role in the history of Taiwan. Mayor Lai hopes that the younger generation can see the hard work of previous generation and pass down the idea of freedom.
On April 18th, 2012, Tainan City acted as the pioneer declaring April 7th as the Tainan City Freedom of Speech Day. Moreover series of activities were held every year since 2013. Tainan City Government hopes that through these activities, idea of true democracy and freedom can be rooted in every citizen’s heart.
Started from April 6th to April 11th, there will be film exhibition, speeches, and concerts. Mayor Lai invites every citizens and visitors to join the celebration, and hopes that through these activities, everyone can understand the value of freedom of speech.
